A leading public sector organisation is seeking a Head of Building Services & Facilities Management to join on an initial contract basis, with a clear opportunity to transition into a permanent position. This is a high-profile leadership role, responsible for shaping and delivering the strategic direction of building services, engineering, and facilities management across a large, complex estate. You’ll play a key role in driving operational excellence, compliance, and innovation while leading multidisciplinary teams and influencing at a senior level.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee national delivery of hard and soft FM services
- Lead the management of mechanical & electrical systems, maintenance programmes, and life safety systems
- Manage supplier and contractor relationships
- Lead and develop high-performing, multidisciplinary teams across a complex operational environment
The ideal candidate will have:
- Extensive senior leadership experience in building services, engineering, or facilities management
- A strong track record of delivering large-scale property or estates programmes
- Proven experience managing compliance, life safety, M&E systems, and operational FM delivery
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and complex stakeholder environments
- Strong commercial and contractual knowledge, ideally including NEC4 frameworks
- Experience driving innovation, digital transformation, and service improvement initiatives
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with experience engaging at Executive/Board level
- Professional accreditation (e.g., Chartered status – MRICS, CEng, MCIBSE or equivalent) and relevant degree
