We are an SME, PE backed business based in the heart of Bristol and we’re looking to appoint our first ever Chief Technology Officer into a ‘number 1 in IT’ role. This is a high‑growth business seeking to optimise and transform our existing technology landscape to enable scalable growth plans.
Role Overview
Reporting to the CEO and as a member of the Executive team, the Chief Technology Officer will define and own the technical vision and architectural roadmap, leveraging technology to maximise business performance and drive strategic transformation. The role will lead the consolidation of legacy systems into a single, cloud‑based platform and ensure seamless integration across existing business systems.
- Develop and own the enterprise‑wide technology vision and architectural roadmap aligned to business objectives.
- Champion innovation and ensure technology underpins growth and operational efficiency.
- Ensure technology strategy supports scalability and innovation.
Platform Consolidation & Integration
- Lead the migration and integration of three legacy systems into one unified, cloud‑based platform.
- Design architecture that supports interoperability with existing business systems and future expansion.
- Centralise and optimise data to create a single source of truth.
- Implement robust data governance, analytics and reporting capabilities to drive insight‑led decisions.
- Drive cultural and operational change to embed technology as a strategic enabler.
- Partner with executive leadership and stakeholders to ensure alignment and adoption.
Governance & Risk Management
- Establish strong cybersecurity, compliance and risk frameworks.
- Ensure technology investments deliver measurable ROI and operational resilience.
- Build and lead a high‑performing technology team.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability and continuous improvement.
Candidate Profile
Experience
- Proven track record as a senior technology leader in an SME or mid‑size business.
- Experience in private‑equity backed businesses or fast‑growth organisations is highly beneficial.
- Significant experience driving technology change and innovation.
- Demonstrated success in system integration, cloud migration and data strategy.
Technical Expertise
- Deep knowledge of cloud architecture (AWS, Azure or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of enterprise integration, APIs and data management frameworks.
Leadership & Influence
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to lead transformation and inspire teams through change.
Mindset
- Commercially astute with a focus on delivering business value.
- Hands‑on when required, but capable of operating at board level.
