Outsource UK are recruiting for an Accountant to join a well-established and growing accountancy practice in Barnstaple. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practice professional looking to broaden their expertise, work closely with a varied client portfolio, and continue developing their career within a supportive and collaborative environment.
The successful candidate will work alongside managers, partners, and clients across a wide range of sectors, taking ownership of client accounts while also supporting and mentoring junior team members.
The Role
As an Accountant, you will be responsible for managing a varied workload and delivering high-quality accounting and tax services to a diverse client base including sole traders, partnerships, charities, and limited companies.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare financial statements for sole traders, partnerships, charities, and limited companies
- Prepare corporation tax returns and computations
- Prepare personal tax returns and computations
- Complete VAT returns and assist with client queries
- Liaise directly with clients to resolve accounting and tax-related matters
- Support the development and mentoring of junior members of the team
- Ensure all work is completed accurately and within agreed timescales
About You:
- ACA/ACCA part-qualified, currently studying towards a professional qualification, or AAT qualified
- 2-3 years' experience within an accountancy practice environment
- Experience preparing accounts and tax returns for a range of clients
- Strong IT skills with experience using accounting software such as IRIS, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- High attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality work
- Ability to manage your own workload and work effectively as part of a team
