Operations Leader/Manager Hybrid working – 3 days on site £550 – £750 per day (umbrella engagement) Our client, an industry leading national business, is looking to hire a contractor to Team lead/manage a team of platform specialists covering spanning Linux/Red-hat, AIX, Windows and VMWare tech, to ensure computing services are secure, resilient and scalable. You will also drive automation and life-cycle management. The suitable candidate will have experience of strong technical leadership and operational discipline. Engagement via Umbrella Company Only; all taxes & NI deducted at source. General responsibilities: Lead the operations of enterprise compute platforms e.g. Linux, AIX, Windows, VMware. Ensure compliance with patching, config standards and security. Manage End-of-Life (EoX) planning, upgrades, migrations etc. Oversee platform monitoring including capacity and performance management. Implement standard operating procedures to ensure consistency across computing services. Collaborate with engineering and architecture teams to influence operational designs. Drive automation of routine operational tasks using tools e.g. Ansible, SCCM, SCOM (or similar). Provide reporting on platform performance, incidents & compliance. Manage vendor relationships. Contribute to audits, IT risk assessments and compliance reporting. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Skills & experience required: Technical knowledge of Linux, AIX, Windows Server, VMware, and Red Hat Demonstrated expertise in patch management Demonstrated expertise in configuration compliance Demonstrated expertise in performance tuning.
