Sanderson are working with a leading financial services organisation that places customers at the centre of its digital strategy. The organisation is continuing to invest heavily in its Customer Experience Platform, creating an exciting opportunity for a Staff Engineer to take on a senior technical leadership role within a growing technology function.

As a Staff Engineer, you will work across squads and delivery partners, owning technical outcomes end to end while remaining deeply hands-on. You will influence architecture, challenge existing approaches, and ensure the delivery of secure, scalable, and high-quality customer-facing solutions built on Adobe technologies.

  • Location: Remote-first, with quarterly on-site workshops/events
  • Salary: Up to £84,000
  • Contract: Full-time, permanent
  • Key Tech: Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), Adobe Experience Platform (AEP), Cloud (GCP/Azure)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on technical leadership across squads, owning technical decisions from requirements through to live release.
  • Act as the senior technical authority, tackling the most complex, ambiguous, or high-risk engineering challenges.
  • Define, own, and communicate clear technical direction, raising engineering standards across code quality, testing, security, and delivery.
  • Lead the design and implementation of solutions built on Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) and the wider Adobe ecosystem.
  • Maintain a strong hands-on presence through coding, code reviews, prototyping, and problem-solving.
  • Ensure solutions meet non-functional requirements including security, performance, resilience, scalability, and operability.
  • Mentor and coach engineers, fostering strong technical capability, confidence, and ownership across teams.
  • Collaborate closely with product, delivery, and senior technical leadership to shape and progress the CXP technical roadmap.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience operating at Senior Tech Lead or Staff Engineer level, supporting multiple teams or complex platforms.
  • Deep, hands-on expertise with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM).
  • Strong understanding of the wider Adobe ecosystem, including AEP, CDP, and Audience Activation.
  • Demonstrable hands-on software engineering background with the ability to write and improve production code.
  • Experience designing and delivering scalable, secure, customer-facing platforms.
  • Confidence owning technical decisions and challenging peers, seniors, and third parties constructively.
  • Strong communication skills, able to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
