New opportunity to the market for a seasoned Storage Engineer to work for a large Edinburgh-based client. You will be joining the existing global team as they continue their transformation journey; tasked with supporting and enhancing the existing virtual storage / compute platform.

Main objectives will be to improve platform engineering for vMotion setup, enhance the current Commvault backup and also to plan the adoption of NVMe. You will support the virtual and storage platforms and contribute towards the platform roadmap, as well as proposing and implementing platforming improvements.

Responsibility will also be held for designing and deploying new technology solutions, such as VMWare NSX, vRealize automation orchestration, Nutanix and SAN migrations. Additionally, you will be responsible for monitoring the efficiency of storage and archiving procedures, supporting disaster recovery, general platform troubleshooting and managing data protection.

Skills and Experience Summary (A blend of):

  • VMWare 6/7/8 environments
  • Cisco UCS NSX environments
  • Platform monitoring solutions
  • Fibre Channel Fabrics, including Brocade switching
  • Disaster recovery planning and execution
  • Data centre management
  • Windows and RHEL operating systems
  • Infrastructure as code; automating with a blend of Ansible, PowerShell, Bash, Perl or Python
  • Grafana
  • Agile working practices
  • Cross-functional DevOps environment

Additional Expertise (desirable):

  • Commercial experience of DR/BCP design and testing procedures
  • Nutanix visualisation platform
  • Security design and architecture
  • Commvault platform
  • Certified across: VMware VCP 6.5 or higher, Nutanix NCP, NetApp NCDA, AWS Solutions Architect / AWS SysOPS Administrator
