OSS Developer (Python) wanted to help lead and build a Tech4Good project based in Bristol. You'll be creating and building a community to develop a platform based in an open-source environment.
The Role:
We are looking for an OSS Developer (Python) to join a team to help build, develop and maintain a platform to help create a community focused on building low volume digital device production. This developer will own the technical strategy and roadmap for the platform driving the Community engagement, liaising across multiple teams and stakeholders, including industry, academics and people within the maker/hacker community.

Responsibilities:
- Using high-level expertise, collaborate with key stakeholders to deliver specialist technical services.
- Develop creative and innovative solutions in area of expertise, to advance specific software solutions methods and practices.
- Evaluate, interpret, analyse, and present complex data from outputs.
- Contribute to wider developments and changes in specific open-source Software projects.
- Design, build and/or adapt specialist software to provide innovative solutions.
- Share professional expertise and contribute to knowledge exchange in specialist field.
- Working with key stakeholders (eg Principal Investigators, researchers, external customers, or other service users) to provide specialist solutions in the planning and design of research experiments.
- Defining accurate methods and providing detailed results, analysis and interpretation of data.
- Maintain awareness of developments and changes in specific area of practice.
Planning & Organising Resources:
- Plan and prioritise own workload to best meet service demands.
- Manage a delegated budget, and grant budgets as appropriate, ensuring sufficient consumables and resources are available for service delivery.
- Contribute to short, medium and long-term planning to improve services impacted upon by the specialism.
Relevant Experience, Skills and Knowledge:
- Extensive open-source development experience.
- Production-level Python and Django expertise.
- Strong understanding of modern software engineering practice.
- Excellent organisation and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proven ability to design, review, and deliver complex, innovative solutions.
- Capable of working autonomously to meet project and organisational goals.
- Consistently accurate, precise, and detail-focused in all work.
