About the opportunity
Sanderson King is exclusively supporting a confidential search for a Regional Finance Director covering Europe within the FMCG sector.
We are seeking a commercially minded finance leader with established Finance Director experience and the ability to operate across multiple markets. This opportunity calls for someone who can combine financial discipline with clear commercial insight, helping business leaders make informed decisions and drive performance.
We welcome interest from existing Regional Finance Directors and accomplished country Finance Directors ready to take on a broader European remit.
Anticipated remit
The detailed brief is being finalised, with the role expected to encompass:
- Providing financial leadership across the European region, connecting financial priorities with business strategy.
- Partnering with regional and market leaders to assess performance, identify opportunities and support commercial decisions.
- Leading budgeting, forecasting and longer-term financial planning.
- Delivering clear insight into revenue, profitability, costs, cash flow and working capital.
- Supporting decisions around pricing, promotional investment, customer and channel profitability, and resource allocation.
- Challenging assumptions constructively and turning financial analysis into practical recommendations.
- Maintaining strong financial controls, governance and reporting standards across markets.
- Leading and developing finance teams, encouraging effective collaboration across countries and functions.
- Improving finance processes and the quality of management information.
About you
We are particularly interested in candidates who bring:
- A proven track record at Finance Director level within FMCG.
- Experience across European markets or a comparable international remit.
- Strong commercial finance expertise and an understanding of the drivers of performance in a consumer goods business.
- Experience partnering with senior commercial, operational and general management leaders.
- Confidence working across different markets, cultures and organisational structures.
- A record of developing teams and improving financial performance.
- The ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and influence decisions.
- A recognised accounting qualification, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
You will be comfortable moving between strategic discussion and detailed financial analysis. You should bring sound judgement, a collaborative approach and the confidence to challenge constructively.
We are looking for someone who can build trusted relationships, establish clear priorities and help teams translate plans into measurable results.
Location and remuneration
Candidates would ideally be based in London or Western Europe, or open to relocating. The final office base, working arrangements and travel requirements remain to be agreed.
The indicative UK base salary is £150,000-£190,000. Remuneration for candidates based elsewhere in Europe will be discussed in line with the agreed location and scope. The final package is subject to confirmation.
