We’re hiring an Associate Solicitor to join a growing, people-first legal services business with a strong reputation for expertise, integrity and client care. This is an opportunity to work at the heart of a collaborative Employment Law team, supporting a wide range of clients including SMEs, high-net-worth individuals, and affinity groups – often with legal expenses insurance backing. Whether you’re based in Manchester or Leeds, you’ll be given the autonomy to manage your own varied caseload across both contentious and non-contentious matters, alongside structured support, ongoing development, and a culture that prioritises flexibility, fairness and impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on day-to-day employment and HR matters including disciplinaries, grievances, and contract issues
  • Draft, review and negotiate employment documents (contracts, settlement agreements, policies, handbooks)
  • Represent clients in Employment Tribunal proceedings, including advocacy where appropriate
  • Manage all aspects of claims – drafting responses/ET1s, preparing witness statements, liaising with counsel and attending hearings
  • Support internal stakeholders and partners with legal insights and policy interpretation
  • Deliver training and contribute to thought leadership (e.g. newsletters, webinars) for clients and colleagues
  • Maintain accurate time recording and support billing and client care processes

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified solicitor (England & Wales) with solid post-qualification experience in employment law
  • Experience managing your own caseload in both contentious and advisory matters
  • Strong understanding of employment tribunal processes and early conciliation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a commercial mindset
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work to deadlines
  • Previous experience working with insurer clients or on legally insured matters is desirable but not essential
  • A team player who enjoys collaborating, mentoring others and learning continuously

What’s On Offer

  • Competitive salary and performance-based incentives
  • Hybrid/flexible working policy to support work/life balance
  • Well-established team and supportive, friendly working environment
  • Clear path for development and progression
  • Access to high-quality, meaningful cases with real client impact
  • Inclusive and values-driven company culture

If you’re looking for a new challenge within a firm that values people as much as performance, and where your work can make a real difference — we’d love to hear from you. Apply now via our careers page or contact our team for a confidential conversation.
