We are seeking an experienced Service Designer to join a major public sector digital transformation programme focused on the design and delivery of a high-profile mobile application.

Working within a multidisciplinary agile team, you will help design end-to-end services that meet user needs while aligning with GOV.UK Service Standards and Government Digital Service (GDS) best practice.

Role Details

  • Rate: £420 per day
  • Contract Length: 12 months
  • IR35 Status: Inside IR35

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead service design activities across the full service lifecycle
  • Create and maintain service blueprints, user journeys and service maps
  • Facilitate workshops with business stakeholders and delivery teams
  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers, User Researchers, Content Designers, Business Analysts and Developers
  • Use user research and data insights to inform service improvements
  • Identify pain points, opportunities and service enhancements
  • Ensure services are accessible, inclusive and user-centred
  • Support delivery in line with GDS standards and assessments

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrable experience working as a Service Designer
  • Strong GDS experience delivering digital services within UK Government or wider public sector organisations
  • Experience working through GDS service phases (Discovery, Alpha, Beta and Live)
  • Understanding of GOV.UK Service Standard and user-centred design principles
  • Experience designing services for mobile applications
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation skills
  • Experience working within agile, multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to produce high-quality service design artefacts including journey maps, service blueprints and ecosystem maps

Desirable

  • Experience of government service assessments
  • Experience working within complex transformation programmes
  • Familiarity with tools such as Miro, Figma, Jira and Confluence

Security Requirements

  • Be British Nationals
  • Have a minimum of 5 years continuous UK residency
  • Be eligible to obtain and maintain BPSS Clearance
