Safety Manager (Defence Projects) – DV Cleared

We are seeking an experienced Safety & Environmental Manager to join our team and support the delivery of a critical infrastructure programme. This role will be pivotal in ensuring compliance with safety and environmental legislation, defence policy and Safety & Environmental Protection standards. You will be responsible for developing and managing key safety documentation, processes, and risk management frameworks to keep projects safe, compliant, and sustainable.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and apply health, safety, and environmental legislation, defence policy, and standards.
  • Produce and deliver Safety Case Reports (SECRs).
  • Deliver Safety Management System (SMS) outputs, including ASEMS.
  • Create and manage project Hazard Logs.
  • Initiate and manage safety and environmental risk processes in line with project needs.
  • Produce Safety & Environmental Management Plans (SEMPs) where required.
  • Lead administration and management of Project Safety & Environmental Panels/Committees.
  • Provide informed safety advice to Project Managers and stakeholders.
  • Conduct audits of project safety and environmental approaches and artefacts.
  • Skilled in Acquisition Safety Management such as ASEMS (POSMS) or equivalent Safety Management Systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of defence safety regulations and guidance.
  • Proven experience in creation and management of Hazard Logs.
  • Familiarity with tools and techniques for safety and environmental risk management.
  • Knowledge of defence acquisition lifecycles.
  • Knowledge of Greening Government initiatives and sustainable procurement.
  • Awareness of Land System Safety and Environmental regulations.
