Platform Architect 1 / 2 days per week onsite in London £650 per day Inside IR35 SC Cleared
We're supporting a major digital transformation programme within central government and are looking for an experienced Platform Architect to help deliver a large-scale cloud migration and modernisation initiative.
Working as part of a high-performing consultancy team, you will play a key role in designing and implementing a new AWS-based platform, supporting the migration of a substantial product estate whilst helping shape the next generation of cloud-native platform capabilities.
This is a highly influential position where you'll define the core platform architecture, establish engineering standards, and enable development teams through scalable, secure, and automated cloud services.
Responsibilities
- Architect and deliver secure, scalable AWS platform foundations.
- Design and implement AWS landing zones, governance frameworks and security guardrails.
- Define "golden paths" and self-service capabilities that accelerate software delivery.
- Develop platform standards and reusable infrastructure patterns.
- Support the migration of applications and services into a modern AWS environment.
- Collaborate with engineering, security, architecture and delivery teams across the programme.
- Contribute to the development of new platform tooling, CI/CD capabilities and cloud automation services.
- Ensure platform solutions align with government security, resilience and operational requirements.
Key Skills & Experience
AWS Platform Architecture
- Extensive experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale AWS platforms.
- Strong understanding of multi-account strategies and cloud operating models.
Governance & Security
- Experience designing secure landing zones and governance frameworks using:
- AWS Organizations
- AWS Control Tower
- IAM
- Service Control Policies (SCPs)
Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Strong hands‑on experience designing and implementing Infrastructure as Code using:
- Terraform
- AWS CDK
- CloudFormation
Container & Serverless Technologies
- Experience building and managing cloud-nativeruntime environments including:
- Amazon EKS (Kubernetes)
- ECS
- Fargate
- AWS Lambda
Desirable Experience
- Large-scale cloud migration or transformation programmes.
- Platform engineering and developer experience initiatives.
- CI/CD pipeline design and automation.
- Working within complex, regulated or government environments.
- Agile delivery methodologies.
