We're supporting a major Central Government programme and are looking for an experienced User Researcher to join a high-performing digital team delivering impactful public services.

This role offers the opportunity to influence the design and delivery of services used by millions of citizens, ensuring decisions are driven by genuine user needs and aligned with GDS standards and best practice.

Essential Requirements
  • Active SC Clearance (must be current and transferable)
  • Proven experience working within Central Government
  • Strong knowledge of GDS Service Manual principles and practices
  • Extensive experience planning, conducting and analysing user research
  • Experience working within agile, multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver a range of qualitative and quantitative user research activities
  • Conduct interviews, usability testing, surveys and discovery research
  • Analyse findings and communicate actionable insights to stakeholders and delivery teams
  • Champion user-centred design principles throughout the service life cycle
  • Work closely with Service Designers, Interaction Designers, Product Managers and Developers
  • Support evidence-based decision-making across complex digital transformation programmes
  • Ensure research activities are inclusive, accessible and aligned to GDS standards
Contract Details
  • Rate: Up to £550 per day
  • IR35: Inside IR35
  • Duration: Initial 6 months
  • Location: Bristol, London or Newcastle
  • Working Pattern: Hybrid, with 1-2 days per week onsite
  • Start Date: ASAP
