We're supporting a central government organisation in the search for an experienced Application Support Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. This is a great opportunity to work within a secure, high-impact environment, providing 2nd line support across a range of critical business applications. You’ll play a key role in ensuring the stability, performance, and continuous improvement of services, working closely with users, technical teams, and suppliers to resolve issues efficiently and enhance user experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 2nd line support for business-critical applications
- Troubleshoot and resolve incidents, service requests, and problem tickets
- Support and maintain Microsoft applications, including M365 services
- Administer and support SharePoint environments
- Work with Atlassian tools (Jira and/or Confluence) for incident tracking and knowledge management
- Collaborate with 1st and 3rd line teams to ensure smooth service delivery
- Contribute to documentation, process improvements, and knowledge sharing
What we’re looking for:
- Proven experience in a 2nd line application support role
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft stack (e.g., Office 365, SharePoint)
- Experience using Jira and/or Confluence
- Excellent troubleshooting and stakeholder communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a structured, secure environment
