We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer / Data Analyst to support the automation and optimisation of a Power BI dashboard for a short-term engagement. This role will focus on building and improving the backend data processes required to enable reliable, automated reporting and analytics.
Working closely with a Power BI Developer, you will assess the existing data landscape, design and implement ETL processes, and ensure the data models underpinning the dashboard are accurate, performant, and well governed.
Key Responsibilities- Assess and enhance the current data infrastructure to support automated data flows into Power BI.
- Develop and implement ETL processes to source, transform and load data efficiently.
- Design data pipelines and orchestration workflows to automate data retrieval and processing.
- Collaborate with the Power BI Developer to ensure data models align with dashboard requirements and performance expectations.
- Identify data gaps and ensure key metrics and KPIs required for reporting are captured and accurately represented.
- Document data sources, processes and models, establishing clear standards for data management and governance.
- Create visual outputs using real data to support dashboard development.
- Define the process and governance for data refresh cycles.
- Map existing data sources and design logical data models.
- Assess current tooling and recommend appropriate solutions for ETL and dashboarding.
- Define metadata, data lineage and governance standards to support sustainable reporting.
- Strong experience in Data Engineering / Data Analysis roles supporting BI or reporting platforms.
- Proven experience designing ETL pipelines and data workflows.
- Experience working with Power BI data models and reporting environments.
- Strong understanding of data modelling, data governance and metadata management.
- Ability to quickly assess existing data environments and deliver pragmatic solutions.
