Location: Fully Remote (first 2 days onsite in Bristol for onboarding/training)
Contract Length: Initial 6 months, with strong likelihood of extension
Rate: £25.50 per hour

We are recruiting for an experienced Technical Author to support a major programme within the defence and engineering sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and review high-quality technical documentation in accordance with S1000D standards.
- Author and edit technical publications using XML authoring tools.
- Act as a key technical documentation contact, ensuring deliverables are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Review publications for quality, accuracy and compliance.
- Support documentation processes and continuous improvement activities.
Essential Requirements
- Recent hands-on S1000D experience.
- Experience using XML editing/authoring software.
- Ability to provide your own Windows 11-compatible IT equipment.
- Willingness to undergo and successfully complete a new DBS check as part of the onboarding process.
Desirable Experience
- Current or previous defence sector experience.
- Experience within engineering, manufacturing, maritime, aerospace or similarly complex technical environments.
- Strong understanding of maintenance, assembly and disassembly processes.
