Senior Service Designer

Essential Experience
Proven experience working as a
Senior Service Designer
on large-scale digital transformation programmes. Strong understanding and practical application of
GDS standards , service design principles and agile delivery methodologies. Experience designing and improving end-to-end services across multiple channels and touchpoints. Expertise in service blueprinting, journey mapping and service optimisation. Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams including User Researchers, Content Designers, Interaction Designers, Delivery Managers and Technical Architects. Experience balancing user needs, business objectives, policy requirements and operational constraints. Strong stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills across senior government audiences.
Key Responsibilities
Lead service design activities across complex public sector services. Create and maintain service blueprints, user journeys and ecosystem maps. Identify service pain points and opportunities for improvement through research and data-driven insights. Facilitate workshops and collaboration sessions with a wide range of stakeholders. Champion user-centred design and ensure alignment with GDS Service Standard requirements. Support service assessments and contribute to strategic service transformation initiatives.
Desirable Experience
Previous experience delivering services within
Central Government . Experience preparing for and supporting
GDS assessments . Understanding of accessibility and inclusive design best practices. Experience within Healthcare, NHS or wider Health sector digital programmes would be highly desirable. Experience designing services involving complex user groups, regulated environments or citizen-facing services.
