Sanderson Government & Defence is proud to be supporting a key government client in the search for a highly experienced Lead SAS Developer to join a major transformation programme within a central UK public sector organisation.
The Opportunity
As a Lead SAS Developer, you will take ownership of designing and delivering complex data integration and software solutions within a large-scale, multi-team environment. Acting as a subject matter expert, you will lead from the front, guiding technical decisions, mentoring engineers, and ensuring best practice across the development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and enhance SAS-based software solutions across enterprise systems
- Lead the implementation of robust ETL pipelines and data integration processes
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless system integration
- Take ownership of technical decision-making and contribute to programme-wide strategy
- Conduct testing, debugging, and optimisation to maintain high-quality deliverables
- Mentor junior team members and foster a culture of continuous improvement
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices
Skills & Experience Required
- Advanced expertise in SAS Data Integration Studio
- Strong experience in custom application development and software engineering principles
- Proven capability with SAS DataFlux ETL tools
- Experience with SAS Event Stream Processing (highly desirable)
- Demonstrated leadership experience within complex delivery environments
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Essential Requirements
- Active SC (Security Clearance), or eligibility to obtain clearance
- Ability to work onsite in Newcastle 2-3 days per week
