EarthDaily’s Mining and Energy team is growing, we are bringing our world class geological remote sensing solution Marigold to more mining customers across the globe. We are currently looking for an early career Spectral Geologist to join our crew! This is a remote position for a candidate located in the United Kingdom. All candidates must be eligible to work in their country of residence.
The Role
As a subject matter expert (SME) in spectral geology and/or remote sensing (RS) geology on the Mining & Energy (M & E) team your responsibility will focus primarily on supporting M & E clients who are interested in receiving guidance and support in the use of our remote sensing expertise to help with their mineral exploration projects, or who may be future users of Marigold, our Flagship software for global geological mineral mapping. This Spectral Geologist role will be reporting to the VP of Mining and Energy, and receive mentorship from our RS Technical Lead, our Principal Remote Sensing Geologist. The primary focus of the role will be technical support during sales calls with prospective clients, and the development of detailed scoping documents for prospective clients to support them in their mineral exploration targeting objectives through either a consulting engagement (SoW), or a Marigold subscription. This role will require collaboration with pre-sales and sales EDA personnel, as well as with other SMEs / technical members of the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales Support and Sales Enablement (75%)
- Work closely with the EDA sales team and our RS Technical Lead to develop functional remote sensing proposals that meet our Mining customers’ needs for greenfield exploration projects.
- Engage with EDA’s in-house SME’s and geological RS SME’s to develop and deliver novel scope of work documents to help close deals with new mining clients.
- Develop and propose geological remote sensing engagement and training solutions with mining clients, helping to secure new or renewal Marigold subscriptions.
- Join sales calls to provide technical guidance to prospective mining clients and represent the domains of exploration, spectral geology, multispectral (MS) and hyperspectral (HSI) data mineral mapping and in time, the role of RS mapping, machine learning and AI in mineral deposit prediction.
- Work closely with the RS Geol SME team to develop competencies in using Marigold such that you are able to help support training in basic MS processing, working towards competencies in HSI mapping as well, in time.
- Using these developed competencies, work with the RS Geol SME’s to help support Marigold testing as requested by the M & E Product Development team.
Your Past Missions
- Graduate degree (MSc. or Ph.D.) with a focus on Geological Remote Sensing, Geochemistry, Mineralogy, or similar specialty.
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant field such as Geology or Geological Engineering.
- 1-4 years of experience/exposure (i.e., summers, work terms, projects) to the Mining Industry would be preferred.
- Proficiency in remote sensing software (i.e., Marigold, ENVI, others), as well as GIS software, preferred.
- Experience with scientific computing with Python, preferably focused on remote sensing/geospatial data, would be a bonus.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as within a team.
