Company Description

Legal & General (L&G) is a leading UK financial services group and major global investor. We’ve been safeguarding people’s financial futures since 1836, and strive to build a better society, while improving the lives of our customers and creating value for shareholders. We are one of the world’s largest asset managers and provide powerful asset origination capabilities. Together, these underpin our retirement and protection solutions: we are an international player in pension risk transfer, in UK and US life insurance, and in UK workplace pensions and retirement income. Our global asset management business provides our clients and partners with complex, responsible investment solutions, working internationally across public and private markets.

Who we are

We are one of Europe’s largest asset managers and a major global investor across public and private markets. Asset Management is a critical driver of our Group strategy. The business aims to work synergistically with our Institutional Retirement and Retail divisions to benefit our clients and customers, and deliver enhanced shareholder returns. Our investment philosophy and processes are focused on creating value over the long term. We believe that incorporating financially material sustainability criteria, when relevant to our clients, can create value and drive positive change.

Job Description

We’re looking for a Climate Strategy Analyst to join our Climate Solutions team and help shape how climate considerations are understood and integrated across our investment activities. In this role, you’ll combine climate expertise with company and investment analysis to support meaningful corporate engagement, assess transition strategies and identify climate-related risks and opportunities. You’ll collaborate with colleagues across investment, stewardship, research and distribution, turning complex analysis into clear, practical insights for a range of stakeholders. This is an opportunity to contribute to client strategies, investment decision-making and thought leadership while supporting the transition towards a lower-carbon economy.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Developing company-level climate engagement analytics to support prioritisation, objective-setting and the tracking of engagement outcomes
  • Assessing corporate transition plans, emissions trajectories, capital allocation, climate governance and financially material climate-related risks and opportunities
  • Supporting the design and implementation of engagement strategies that seek to create long-term shareholder value while encouraging decarbonisation and the energy transition
  • Translating climate, sector and company analysis into clear recommendations for investment, stewardship and client-facing activities
  • Supporting strategic client mandates and climate impact strategies through robust company analysis, engagement evidence and transition assessments
  • Collaborating with investment teams to strengthen understanding of climate transition risks and opportunities across companies, sectors and portfolios
  • Contributing to external thought leadership and client communications on climate integration, corporate engagement and the energy transition
  • Supporting the CIO office and wider investment leadership on climate, energy transition and broader sustainability matters

Who we’re looking for:

  • Relevant professional experience gained in areas such as consulting, corporate strategy, investment, sustainability or a related field
  • Detailed knowledge of climate change, transition risk, decarbonisation pathways, carbon pricing, climate policy and sector-specific transition challenges
  • A strong understanding of corporate climate strategy, including transition plans, emissions targets, capital allocation, governance and disclosure
  • The ability to analyse companies from both climate and investment perspectives, considering financial materiality and long-term value creation
  • A broad understanding of capital markets, corporate finance and how climate-related matters can influence company strategy, valuation and investment outcomes
  • Experience developing analytical frameworks, metrics or tools to support climate engagement, transition assessment or portfolio decision-making
  • Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to make complex analysis accessible to investment colleagues, clients and senior stakeholders
  • A collaborative and adaptable approach, alongside the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and apply climate data, company disclosures and financial analysis effectively

Whatever your role, we reward performance and behaviour with a package that looks after all the things that are important to you. Here are some of the benefits we offer:

  • The opportunity to participate in our annual, performance-related bonus plan and valuable share schemes
  • Generous pension contribution
  • Life assurance
  • Healthcare Plan (permanent employees only)
  • At least 25 days holiday, plus public holidays, 26 days after 2 years’ service. There’s also the option to buy and sell holiday
  • Competitive family leave
  • Participate in our electric car scheme, which offers employees the option to hire a brand-new electric car through tax efficient salary sacrifice (permanent employees only)
  • There are many discounts we offer – both for our own products and at a range of high street stores and online
  • We’re creating net-zero carbon workplaces by 2030 by investing in our sustainable, modern offices across the UK, all designed to bring people together and elevate the in-person experience
