We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Social Work Practitioner to join the Assessment and Safeguarding Team in Gateshead. This full-time locum position offers a competitive rate of £31.74 per hour over an initial 3-month contract. What you will do:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of children, young people, and families to identify safeguarding concerns and assess levels of risk.
  • Develop, implement, and review child-centred plans that promote safety, stability, and positive outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies, including health, education, police, and other professionals, to coordinate effective support and safeguarding interventions.
  • Provide expert advice, guidance, and mentoring to less experienced social workers, supporting high standards of practice.
  • Manage complex safeguarding cases, ensuring compliance with statutory responsibilities, legislation, and local procedures.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive case records, assessments, and reports in line with organisational policies and professional standards.
