We have an opportunity for a Gas Operations Manager to join our team in the East Region, managing a team of 23+ Gas Engineers, 3 Service Delivery Managers and Works Coordinators. You will be expected to manage the delivery of a high quality and cost‑effective Gas Maintenance Service that responds to customer, organisational and financial needs. The role sits within Sanctuary Maintenance Contractors Limited (SMCL). SMCL delivers high quality and cost‑effective property repairs and refurbishments, estate services, gas servicing, and installation and maintenance service across the UK to both internal and external clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruit, manage performance, and develop quality staff to ensure the required skilled staff are available to meet service needs.
- Drive the operational delivery of a cost-effective internal maintenance service within appropriate financial policies, procedures and agreed budgets.
- Coordinate, communicate and maintain relationships with internal and external customers, identifying any shortfalls in service delivery and ensuring they are dealt with appropriately.
- Assist in drafting and reviewing relevant policies and procedures, effectively communicate and implement these, ensuring good practice and legal compliance.
- Assist in the effective management of the internal maintenance service to ensure timely achievement of business targets and contribute to growth opportunities in line with the strategy.
- Manage a direct labour operation or internal maintenance service, driving the growth of the internal maintenance service within a performance‑focused environment, delivering key performance indicators.
- Drive company vehicles – a full valid UK driving licence is required.
Skills and Experience
- Qualifications: Health and safety legislation compliance (CCN1, CENWAT, CKR1, CPA1, Energy Efficiency, Gas Auditing, HTR1, Water Regulations (WRAS)) – or currently undertaking the qualification. Original certification must be presented at interview; copies and CSCS cards will not be accepted.
- Degree, management qualification or relevant professional qualification.
- Experience managing multi‑site maintenance contracts in a commercially focused role.
- Experience operating within a performance‑focused environment, delivering KPI.
- Demonstrated achievement in project management.
- Proven track record managing a direct labour operation or internal maintenance service.
- Full valid UK driving licence for company vehicles.
