What you will do:

  • Deliver specialist care for patients with respiratory diseases such as COPD, asthma, ILD, and lung infections.
  • Provide consultant-led outpatient clinics and inpatient ward rounds.
  • Contribute to acute and general medical on-call rotas as required, ensuring prompt and effective patient care.
  • Interpret diagnostic investigations, including imaging, spirometry, and blood gases, guiding accurate diagnoses.
  • Lead and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to foster integrated patient care.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical governance, safety, and quality standards to maintain high care quality.
  • Contribute to service development, audit, teaching, and research activities to advance the department's capabilities.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation and reporting to enhance patient care continuity.

Person specification:

Qualifications:

  • Primary Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent)
  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise

Registration & Training:

  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Respiratory Medicine (or within 6 months of CCT)
  • Completion of CCT in Respiratory and General (Internal) Medicine (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrable evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
