Contract: Locum, Full Time (Term Time Only), 9–12 Months (Maternity Cover)

We are seeking a skilled Speech and Language Therapist to join the SEN (16–25) Team in Newcastle upon Tyne for a 9–12 month maternity cover. This full-time locum opportunity starts in September and offers term-time-only working, Monday to Friday. You'll play a vital role in supporting young people aged 16 to 25 with special educational needs, helping them develop essential communication skills to achieve positive outcomes.

What you will do:

  • Assess and manage a caseload of young adults aged 16 to 25 with special educational needs.
  • Develop and implement personalised therapy programmes to support communication development.
  • Work collaboratively with families and multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated care.
  • Provide training and guidance to educators and carers to support language development.
  • Maintain accurate records of therapy sessions, assessments, and progress.
  • Contribute to team meetings and provide specialist input to enhance the SEN service.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Degree or recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • HCPC registration as a Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Experience working with young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ideally aged 16–25.
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
