We are looking for emotionally attuned, experienced professionals like you to become Step Forward Foster Carers – offering a safe, supportive home to a young person transitioning from residential care. What is Step Forward Fostering?
Step Forward Fostering is a pioneering project designed to help young people who have faced trauma, loss, and instability move from residential care into a safe, nurturing family environment. These young people aren’t simply looking for accommodation – they need someone like you: a trusted adult who understands emotional regulation, family dynamics, and the power of secure attachment.
As a Step Forward Foster Carer, you’ll work as part of a multi-agency team, with therapeutic support built in. You’ll never be alone on this journey.
What You’ll Receive:
- Your own Senior Practitioner offering regular guidance and supervision
- A Family Wellbeing Worker to support both you and your foster child
- A Hub Carer providing up to 28 days of planned short breaks per year
- 24/7 Out-of-Hours Support
- A peer support network of other Step Forward Carers
- Ongoing training in trauma-informed care, attachment, and neurodevelopmental needs
- Therapeutic and psychological support aligned with your existing expertise
Financial Package:
We offer a generous financial package so you can focus on what matters most – providing stability and care.
- £1,052 per week while a child is placed with you (around £54,704 per year)
- £408 per week retainer between placements (up to £21,216 annually)
- Additional allowances for birthdays, holidays, and cultural celebrations
- Tax exemptions specifically designed for foster carers
