What you will do
- Deliver safe, effective, and individualised perioperative care throughout the anaesthetic, intraoperative, and recovery phases of the patient journey.
- Prepare theatres, anaesthetic rooms, and specialist equipment, ensuring compliance with infection prevention and control standards.
- Assist anaesthetists during induction, maintenance, and emergence from anaesthesia, maintaining patient safety at all times.
- Participate in the WHO Surgical Safety Checklist and support adherence to NHS patient safety initiatives and theatre protocols.
Qualifications
- Diploma of Higher Education (DipHE) or BSc in Operating Department Practice.
- Registered Operating Department Practitioner qualification.
- Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
Requirements
- Experience in an acute hospital theatre environment.
- Experience supporting a range of surgical specialities.
- Understanding of evidence-based practice.
