 Salary: €65,818 – €74,329 per annum (as per current pay scale)
About the Role
 Sanctuary Personnel is seeking an experienced and motivated Clinical Nurse Manager for a permanent position based in Dublin. This key leadership role is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and quality care through expert oversight of Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) and Medical Emergency Responses, as well as leading, delivering, and implementing the SafeWards model across clinical services.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, Assistant Directors of Nursing (ADONs), Nurse Management, Quality, Risk & Compliance, Facilities, and People & Culture teams to ensure evidence-based practice, continuous staff development, and a culture of safety excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Infection Prevention & Control
Provide leadership, mentorship, and expert advice on all aspects of infection prevention and control.
Develop, implement, and monitor IPC policies, programmes, and protocols in line with HSE and MHC standards.
Support outbreak management and root cause analysis, ensuring compliance with national IPC guidelines.
Oversee staff training and simulation drills to maintain best practice across all disciplines.
Undertake regular risk assessments and contribute to committees and working groups to drive ongoing improvement.
Medical Emergency Nursing Leadership
Act as onsite clinical lead during drills and actual emergency events.
Collaborate with GPs, emergency services, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective emergency responses.
Review emergency outcomes, identify improvement opportunities, and oversee emergency equipment and medication management.
Champion early recognition and rapid response to sepsis in line with HSE National Clinical Guidelines.
Lead staff training on identifying patient deterioration and escalation protocols.
SafeWards & Staff Development
Lead the implementation and delivery of the SafeWards initiative.
Design and deliver training focused on de-escalation, safety, and patient-centred care.
Coach and mentor staff to embed SafeWards principles in daily practice, improving wellbeing and outcomes.
Leadership & Governance
Provide visible, accessible, and credible leadership across clinical areas.
Promote a culture of patient safety, quality improvement, and accountability.
Work with ADONs to identify and address areas of clinical risk.
Ensure lessons learned from audits, incidents, and inspections are effectively communicated and acted upon.
Essential Requirements
Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
Minimum of 5 years post-registration experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in infection prevention and control.
Evidence of ongoing professional development.
Proven experience in designing and delivering staff training.
Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
Commitment to continuous professional development in IPC and SafeWards.
Desirable
Postgraduate qualification in IPC, Nursing Management, SafeWards, or a related field.
Experience in SafeWards implementation and quality improvement frameworks.
Proven track record in audit and risk management.
