Advanced Social Worker – Children in Care

Sanctuary Personnel is seeking a permanent Advanced Social Worker to join the Children in Care Team, based in Croydon. This role is full-time with a salary up to £50,839 per annum.

Overview

The post involves handling a number of complex cases including care proceedings, making assessments of need, planning resources, and monitoring and reviewing in line with the policy framework. The post holder will liaise with other agencies to provide effective children’s services and develop partnership working.

Responsibilities

  • Carry a number of complex cases including care proceedings; assess needs, plan appropriate resources, and monitor and review in line with policy framework.
  • Liaise with other agencies to provide effective children’s services to individuals and families and develop effective partnership working.
  • Provide informal support to less experienced and qualified social workers and contribute to on-the-job training related to team policies, procedures, and induction arrangements.
  • Engage with children and families to build quality relationships that positively impact outcomes.
  • Promote a practice philosophy that empowers service users, builds on individual strengths, and develops strategies to understand, manage, and respond to risk; ensure assessments and plans reflect this.
  • Contribute to the delivery of the service’s engagement strategy and, depending on level, take responsibility for particular relationships.
  • Build comprehensive knowledge of available services and use them through evidence-based matching.
  • Maintain records evidencing engagement with children and families, contributing to quality assurance through quantitative and qualitative data and outcomes.
  • Contribute to quality assurance exercises within the service’s framework.
  • Adapt personal practice in response to findings, legislation, statutory guidance, and policy developments relevant to the service area.
  • Apply research evidence, legislation, and guidance in practice across assessments, professional judgments, care plans, direct help, and matching needs to services.

Requirements

  • A Social Work qualification or equivalent.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation.
  • Social Work England registered.
