This is a thrilling opportunity for a Team Manager – Safeguarding to join a vibrant team in London on an ongoing, full-time locum basis. As a remarkable leader, you will helm a team of dedicated social workers, steering them toward excellence in safeguarding vulnerable children. What you will do:

  • Provide direction, support, and supervision to a team of social workers, ensuring effective case management.
  • Maintain high professional standards, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practices.
  • Promote a positive team culture focused on learning, professional development, and accountability.
  • Oversee complex safeguarding cases, ensuring timely interventions and robust risk assessments.
  • Chair strategy discussions, case conferences, and multi-agency meetings as required.
  • Ensure the voice of the child is central to all safeguarding decisions and planning.
  • Monitor team performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies, ensuring effective information sharing and joint working.
  • Keep up to date with legislation, policies, and best practices to maintain high-quality service delivery.
  • Ensure the effective allocation of cases, managing workloads efficiently.
  • Support social workers in complex decision-making, offering expert guidance and oversight.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of casework on the relevant systems.

Essential Criteria:
Social Work England (SWE) registration. Extensive post-qualification experience in children’s social care. Strong background in safeguarding and child protection. Previous experience in a leadership or management role within a local authority. Excellent understanding of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989/2004 and Working Together to Safeguard Children. Proven ability to manage and develop teams, ensuring high performance.

Desirable Criteria:
Experience in a local authority safeguarding team. Postgraduate qualifications in social work or management.
