Occupational Therapist – Equipment & Adaptations Team

What you will do:
- Accept referrals and undertake home visits to provide tailored support
- Complete specialized Occupational Therapy assessments for both disabled adults and children
- Assess and recommend appropriate equipment, adaptations, and transfer techniques
- Conduct risk assessments to define suitable interventions
- Deliver, install, and demonstrate the use of specialist equipment to service users
- Recommend both minor and major adaptations to enhance home accessibility
- Liaise with Housing Technical Officers and contractors regarding adaptations
- Conduct property suitability checks for individuals with disabilities
- Participate in the duty rota, offering advice and support planning
- Carry out joint visits with health and social care professionals
- Provide advice, counselling, and support to service users and their carers
- Maintain precise records of assessments, equipment, and adaptations
- Contribute to service improvement & participate in housing initiatives
Requirements:
- BSc Occupational Therapy or Diploma in Occupational Therapy
- HCPC registration
- Experience in community or Local Authority Occupational Therapy
- Expertise in assessing adults and children with physical and sensory disabilities
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and various disabilities
- Strong communication, organisational, and IT skills
- Ability to work effectively within a team and demonstrate equipment in homes
- Access to a motor vehicle required, as travel across the city is necessary
- Experience within an Equipment and Adaptations Service
- Familiarity with working jointly with Housing services
- Experience supervising Occupational Therapy students
- Knowledge in welfare rights and project/service development
