What you will do:

• Assist the Team Leader in managing an operational team, providing expert direction and professional guidance.
• Contribute to strategic development and long-term business planning, aligning with the council’s priorities.
• Develop effective partnerships with key agencies such as the Police, HMRC, and the London Fire Brigade to deliver a comprehensive community protection service.
• Ensure services uphold the highest standards of customer care while meeting enforcement requirements.
• Provide up-to-date advice and guidance on matters relating to environmental health and trading standards.
• Engage in mentoring and coaching junior officers and trainees, enhancing the quality of their casework.
• Respond adeptly to organisational and legislative changes, supporting senior management in planning and review processes.
• Conduct detailed field investigations, make informed decisions, and take necessary enforcement actions.
• Maintain knowledge of regulatory best practices and legislative developments to effectively apply within the role.
• Develop joint initiatives with various agencies, contributing positively to service delivery.
