What you will do:
- Perform Haematology and Blood Transfusion laboratory testing with precision and care.
- Process urgent and routine samples, meeting ambitious turnaround times.
- Validate, interpret, and report laboratory results to assist in patient diagnosis and treatment.
- Maintain and calibrate complex laboratory analysers, ensuring optimal performance.
- Implement quality control and calibration procedures to uphold high standards.
- Quickly fault-find and resolve analyser issues to maintain seamless operations.
- Manage laboratory information systems and maintain accurate patient databases.
- Input and amend patient results meticulously to ensure data integrity.
- Contribute to service development and spearhead quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
- BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science or equivalent qualification.
- HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
- Specialist Diploma from the IBMS or its equivalent.
- Proficient in Haematology and Blood Transfusion practices.
- Experience working autonomously, including out of hours as needed.
- Skilled in using laboratory information systems and interpreting quality assurance results.
- Membership with IBMS.
- Experience in Clinical Biochemistry and training junior staff.
- Familiarity with CPA/UKAS accreditation standards.
