Sanctuary Personnel is recruiting Phlebotomists to support an expanding clinical blood collection and sample handling service across Wales.

We welcome applications from a wide range of healthcare professionals, including Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Assistants, Medical Laboratory Assistants (MLAs), Nurses, Healthcare Assistants (HCAs), and other healthcare staff with proven phlebotomy, venepuncture, and/or cannulation competencies.

This is an excellent opportunity for healthcare professionals seeking flexible locum work, competitive hourly pay, and experience across a growing multi-site clinical service. The project is currently based in Chepstow (Outreach Unit), with planned expansion across multiple locations throughout Wales.

Candidates who already hold a valid DBS or PVG certificate are particularly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform venepuncture, cannulation, and blood collection procedures safely and accurately
  • Ensure correct patient identification, consent, and sample labelling
  • Handle, prepare, and transport clinical specimens in line with established protocols
  • Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control (IPC)
  • Complete clinical documentation and records accurately
  • Deliver professional, patient-centred care at all times
  • Travel and work across multiple sites as service demand requires
  • Previous experience within a healthcare setting
  • Demonstrable competency in phlebotomy, venepuncture, cannulation, and/or blood collection procedures
  • Valid and current competency certificate for venepuncture, cannulation, or blood drawing

  • Background as a Pharmacy Technician, Pharmacy Assistant, Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA), Nurse, Healthcare Assistant (HCA), or similar healthcare professional
  • Experience within hospitals, community healthcare services, pathology laboratories,
  • GP practices, or pharmacy environments
  • Familiarity with specimen transport systems and laboratory workflows
  • Experience working within mobile or multi-site healthcare services
