What you will do

  • Work with children, families, carers, groups, and communities to assess needs, strengths, and areas of risk.
  • Undertake assessments and interventions using the Signs of Safety practice model.
  • Ensure children’s voices, wishes, and feelings remain central to all assessments, planning, and decision-making.
  • Complete safeguarding assessments, including Section 47 enquiries, where required.
  • Develop, implement, review, and evaluate care and support plans that promote positive outcomes.
  • Manage a varied caseload while maintaining high standards of professional practice and accountability.
  • Participate in regular supervision and reflective practice to enhance service delivery and professional development.
  • Support families to build resilience, strengthen relationships, and achieve sustainable change.
  • Promote independence, wellbeing, and positive outcomes through strengths-based interventions.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies, education providers, health professionals, and community organisations.
  • Facilitate the active involvement of children, families, carers, advocates, and support networks in care planning processes.
  • Coordinate and review care packages to ensure services meet assessed needs effectively.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive case records and reports in line with statutory requirements.

Requirements

  • Social Work Qualification: Degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work.
  • Registration: Current registration with Social Care Wales or relevant professional body.
  • Children’s Social Work Experience: Experience working within Children’s Services and safeguarding practice.
  • Assessment Skills: Strong assessment, care planning, risk management, and report-writing abilities.
  • Legislative Knowledge: Good understanding of relevant child care legislation, safeguarding procedures, and statutory guidance.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and partnership-working skills.
  • Signs of Safety Experience: Experience or knowledge of the Signs of Safety practice model is desirable.
