Senior Practitioner – Fostering Team

Job location: Medway. Salary: up to £52,934 per annum. Full time.

Responsibilities

  • Function as a highly skilled and experienced practitioner within the fostering team, providing day‑to‑day support and advice to social care staff to ensure high quality services.
  • Enable and support the delivery of services efficiently and effectively in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Assist the Team Manager with service development, safeguarding procedures, professional supervision and specific aspects of management.
  • Supervise student social workers on placement, provide expert guidance, assess practice in accordance with university guidance, and actively participate in the Student’s Unit.
  • Lead training and development for Foster Carers and facilitate and attend support groups.
  • Model child‑centred, value‑based practice and take responsibility for a caseload of complex cases.
  • Supervise and mentor other team members, coaching and developing them to set a high standard for colleagues.
  • Ensure resources are utilised effectively to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and their families.
  • Keep up to date with research findings, theoretical models and innovative practice within the social work field.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records in line with Data Protection legislation and use the Children’s Recording System for effective case management.
  • Prepare for supervisory sessions and be available for supervision as required by the Team Manager.
  • Be competent in all areas of the Professional Capabilities framework for Social Workers.
  • Perform other activities agreed with the Head of Service as reasonably required.

Qualifications

  • Professional Social Work qualification or equivalent.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation.
  • Registered or eligible for registration.
  • Good working knowledge of relevant legislation.
