Sanctuary Personnel is recruiting a permanent Social Worker for the Pre-Birth Team in Redbridge, working full time. Salary up to £46,041 per annum.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, review and support children, families or carers with complex care needs, following legal frameworks, policy and guidance.
- Assess family functioning and provide help and support when relationship breakdown threatens the health or wellbeing of children at risk of abuse or neglect.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external professionals to help children, young people and families improve and gain control of their lives when safety or ability to participate in the community is restricted.
- Carry out assessments or enquiries and plan responses to safeguard a child from abuse, neglect or exploitation, building effective relationships and intervening when necessary.
- Arrange appropriate alternative care, including a permanent home, in collaboration with children, young people and their parents/carers when parents cannot care for them.
- Accountable for making recommendations regarding statutory intervention thresholds.
- Promote autonomy and development with individuals who have complex social needs and are vulnerable due to disability, exclusion, or diminished capacity, e.g. working with people with learning disabilities, physical disabilities or diminished capacity.
- Maintain up-to-date, accurate and high-quality records of activity on cases.
- Participate in a range of decision‑making forums, including case discussions, strategy meetings, legal planning meetings, child protection conferences and statutory reviews.
- Act as a Practice Educator for social work qualifying course students on practice placements (where appropriate) or as an assessor for newly qualified social workers completing ASYE.
- Work with communities, families and individuals to maximise or promote their personal strengths, social networks and resources.
- Hold a caseload of a level of complexity and provide case management, guidance, support and expert advice to social care staff, students and newly qualified social workers when required.
- Contribute to organisational capability development by owning training and development, identifying and participating in training activities and responding to performance feedback.
- Take responsibility for identifying and responding to risk areas, including health and safety and business continuity.
Qualifications
- A Social Work qualification or equivalent.
- Understanding of relevant legislation.
- Continual professional development.
- Registered with Social Work England.
- Experience within Adult Social Work.
