Sanctuary provide in-house repairs and maintenance services for an extensive portfolio of properties across Sanctuary organisations. We have opportunities for a Grounds Maintenance Team Leader to join our Grounds Maintenance team based in West Bromwich. The Grounds Maintenance team of two is responsible for completing ground maintenance tasks across various sites in the West Bromwich area to a set rota. Daily tasks will include:

  • Completion of risk assessments
  • Van checks
  • Upkeep of equipment in line with safe working practice
  • Litter picking
  • Shrub pruning
  • Grass and hedge cutting
  • Weed spraying
  • Removal of fly tipping
  • Bin store clearances

The role will include:

  • Providing supervisory support in keeping estates well maintained and clean
  • Using equipment and materials in a safe manner as instructed and in accordance with risk assessment and the manufacturer’s guidance
  • Carrying out all tasks such as spraying, in accordance with supplier guidelines ensuring relevant records are maintained to comply with health and safety and legal requirements
  • Ensuring van, tools and equipment are kept in good condition and continue to be suitable for required tasks
  • Responding positively to complaints and breakdowns in service delivery to meet customer expectations

Skills and experiences:

  • Excellent communication skills and customer service skills
  • Recent experience of working within a similar role where operating gardening machinery is essential
  • Pesticide Application Certificate PA1 – PA6 (or equivalent) is essential
  • NVQ3 or equivalent in Horticulture or similar discipline
  • This role will involve driving on company business. In order to drive a company vehicle, drivers must hold a full valid UK driving licence

£26,863 (rising to £28,276 per annum after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance)
