We are looking for a Passive Fire Operative to join our team based in Ipswich covering the surrounding region. You will form part of a dedicated team of Fire Operatives and a Supervisor, responsible for carrying out fire passive works i.e. fire doors and fire stopping, repair and installation works in compliance with relevant regulations to ensure the Group's properties are compliant and safe.

The role of Passive Fire Operative will include:

  • Provide accurate and timely information on progress and advice that is easily understood by the customer and ensure accurate daily work records are completed.
  • Carry out maintenance of systems including fire doors and fire stopping systems to ensure safe and compliant properties.
  • Resolve problems or set into motion the means of resolution, ensuring customers are kept informed in line with agreed processes and within contract and service specifications, escalating issues as necessary.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are maintained in good condition and stocks are replenished as needed, in accordance with the agreed requisition procedures and budgets.
  • Respond positively to complaints and breakdowns in service delivery to meet customer expectations, in accordance with contract and service specifications.

Skills and experiences:

  • To ensure full compliance with Building Safety legislation, candidates applying for this role must be qualified to NVQ2 or above in Passive fire works and/or NVQ 2 in carpentry.
  • Experience of working in a fire and security environment, understanding the British Standards and legislation.
  • Previous experience working on passive fire works.
  • Knowledge of analysing passive fire works and implementing effective solutions.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to use IT systems, including a smart phone would be advantageous.

This role will involve driving on company business. In order to drive a company vehicle, drivers must hold a full valid UK manual driving licence.
