We are looking for a Landscape Technician to join our Estate Service team based in Stoke on Trent. Working as part of a small team, as well as lone working, you will be expected to maintain the grounds on set sites on a rota basis. The role will involve lawn mowing, hedge/shrub pruning and litter picking. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and a well-organised team player with good interpersonal skills who has previous experience in a gardening role and knows how to operate garden tools and powered machinery.

Daily tasks can include hard landscaping, weeding, lawn mowing, hedge and shrub pruning, weed treatments, bed and border cultivation, litter picking and applying pesticide treatments at the different schemes. Training will be provided, and different opportunities are available to progress your career with Sanctuary.

Responsibilities

  • Undertaking grounds maintenance duties such as weeding, trimming hedges/bushes, lawn mowing, litter picking and applying pesticide treatments.
  • Ensuring all tools and equipment such as hedge trimmers, strimmers and all relevant hand tools are maintained in good, workable condition and are operated within a safe manner.
  • Providing accurate and timely information on the progress of tasks, completing daily work records as appropriate.
  • Complying with health and safety requirements in accordance with supplier guidelines and assessments.

Qualifications

  • NVQ 2 in horticulture or similar.
  • Literacy and numeracy equivalent to grade C GCSE English and Maths.
  • Pesticide Application Certificate PA1 - PA6 (or equivalent).
  • Recent experience of undertaking a similar role.
  • Some practical experience of operating machinery.
  • Good understanding of written and spoken English.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Full valid UK driving licence (as the role will involve driving on company business).
