Sanctuary provide in-house repairs and maintenance services for an extensive portfolio of properties across Sanctuary organisations. We have an opportunity for a Mobile Caretaker to join our Voids team within Property Services in Paignton. This role involves removing customers’ furniture and belongings from void properties and carrying out a final clean once work has been completed by the voids team so property is left in lettable standard for a new customer to move in. This is a varied role and includes also tasks that involve lifting and moving heavy items, removing fly tipping, needle sweep, cutting grass and various gardening works. A company van will be provided for business use only along with training.

The role of Caretaker will include:

  • Undertaking general caretaking duties including cleaning, removing bulk waste and ground maintenance to void properties, this may also include communal areas such as stairs, doors and windows.
  • Carry out property clearances, removal of fly-tipping, needle sweeps, pest treatments, and final cleans.
  • Perform grounds maintenance tasks including litter picking, shrub cutting, weed control treatments, and general upkeep.
  • Communicate effectively with management and update paper and electronic records daily.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are maintained in a suitable condition.
  • Work to strict deadlines and keep managers updated on progress.

Skills and experiences:

  • Experience in a similar role or completing similar tasks.
  • Practical experience in operating hand tools and light machinery.
  • Some experience of working to deadlines and prioritising workloads.
  • Attention to detail in terms of getting property to a standard where we can move new customers in.
  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

This role will involve driving on company business. To drive a company vehicle, drivers must hold a full valid UK driving licence.

£25,400 per annum (rising to £26,737 per annum after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance).
