We have an opportunity for 2 Commercial Gas Engineers to join our team based in Cambridge covering New Market, Colchester and Ipswich area. In this role, you will safely, efficiently, and professionally deliver the installation, servicing, maintenance, and repair of commercial gas systems and associated mechanical equipment. The role ensures compliance with industry regulations, supports operational reliability for customers, and contributes to safe and effective gas network or plant operations.
The role of Commercial Gas Engineer will include:
- Diagnosing and repairing faults on commercial gas appliances, boilers, plant rooms, and heating systems, and conducting planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance
- Carrying out commissioning, decommissioning, and testing of commercial gas systems
- Installing commercial boilers, heating systems, burners, pipework, and associated mechanical components, and ensuring installations comply with relevant legislation (Gas Safety, IGEM standards, manufacturer guidance)
- Completing gas safety checks, CP15/CP16 certificates, and other compliance documentation
- Following safe systems of work, including risk assessments and method statements, and maintaining accurate records in line with regulations and company procedures
- Providing clear updates to customers and stakeholders on work progress
- Identifying improvement opportunities and advising on system efficiency and upgrades, and assisting colleagues and apprentices with technical guidance and support
- Maintaining tools, equipment, and vehicle to company standards
Skills and experiences:
- To ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation, candidates applying for this role must be qualified to CCN1, CENWAT, CKR1, HTR1, COCN1 / CODNCO1, ICPN1, TPCP1/1A, CIGA1, CORT1, CDGA1CCN1, CENWAT, CKR1, CPA1, Gas Auditing Qualification, HTR1, Unvented - G3 Certificate, Water Regulations (WRAS)- Or currently undertaking the qualifications. As part of the interview process, candidates will be required to bring with them the original certification verifying proof of their qualifications. Copies and CSCS cards will not be accepted.
- Working knowledge of the installation, servicing and maintenance of gas heating systems in commercial properties
- Proven experience of analysing and diagnosing problems and implementing effective solutions
- Ability to use and update computerised systems (including PDA) for work scheduling
- Proven experience of working to deadlines and prioritising work loads
This role will involve driving on company business. In order to drive a company vehicle, drivers must hold a full valid UK driving licence.
