As an Apprentice Care and Support Assistant with Sanctuary Supported Living, you will make a real difference from day one by supporting people with disabilities, while working towards a free, fully funded Health and Social Care qualification. Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support to customers with learning and physical disabilities, helping them build independence and reach their potential in daily life.
  • Work one-to-one as a Key Worker, helping individuals create and follow personalised care and support plans that reflect their goals and needs.
  • Assist with daily personal care — washing, bathing, dressing, and toileting — always ensuring each person's comfort, dignity and preferences are respected.
  • Assist with medication management, ensuring customers take the right medicine at the right times (with full training provided and safety protocols followed).
  • Support customers to get out and about — whether it's going shopping, visiting friends, or attending appointments — making these outings possible.
  • Help maintain a clean, comfortable living environment, following health and safety guidelines, assisting with risk assessments, and ensuring the service is safe and welcoming for all.

Qualifications & Attributes

You don’t need to have years of experience – if you’re caring, practical, and eager to learn, you can become an excellent Care and Support Assistant with us. We’re looking for:

  • A kind, compassionate nature – you genuinely care about people, you’re patient, empathetic, and find joy in helping others live their best lives.
  • Able to work well on your own and as part of a team – you take initiative when working independently, but also know how to collaborate and support your colleagues.
  • Comfortable adapting if a customer’s needs or routine change.
  • Reliable and well-organised – you can keep track of tasks (like appointments or daily logs) even in a busy environment, and you pay attention to important details.
  • Comfortable using a computer or tablet for things like writing care notes, completing e-learning modules, or sending the occasional email (we’ll show you any software you need to use).

To join this apprenticeship, you will need a Level 2 Grade 4 (C) in English and maths, or an equivalent qualification – if you are under 19 and do not yet have a Grade 4 (C) or above, you will be supported to complete Functional Skills Level 2 as part of the programme.
