We have an opportunity for a Mobile Caretaker to join our team based in Leeds. As a Mobile Caretaker, you will work as part of a small team within the Estates department. Estates cover various aspects of work from waste removal, damp and mould treatment, grounds maintenance and cleaning. You will be expected to support the team in completing all aspects of the above.
Working as part of a two-person team, you will often collaborate with other teams to carry out larger or more complex tasks. The team of two will have two primary functions: waste removal and damp and mould treatment. Waste removal could be from inside one of our properties, fly tipped waste or waste left following a vacancy of one of our properties. Damp and mould treatment will be in line with Government legislation and as such will require initial investigation to determine its extent and cause as well as treatment and preventative action to limit recurrence. Training in all aspects of this will be given but the individual must be willing and able to learn and then apply that knowledge independently and as part of a small team and generate reports to show their findings and the work that was carried out. These reports will be a mixture of hand written and electronic. A work provided smart phone will be used to issue work.
Role responsibilities:
- Damp and mould treatment in properties; this includes identifying, treating and then redecorating the affected area
- Waste removal from across all our sites, generally this will be fly tipped waste but may include emptying void properties
- Gutter cleaning using an extendable vacuum system so all work is carried out from ground level
- Working with other Estates teams where needed
- Ensuring Health and Safety protocols are followed
- Ensure tools and equipment are maintained in good condition and used in line with policies and procedures
- Using a smart phone to manage work and receive and record work tasks
Skills and experiences:
- Knowledge of cleaning and caretaking, and an understanding of COSHH and Risk Assessments
- Knowledge of how to use grounds machinery confidently and competently
- Ability to use and update computerised systems (including PDA) for work scheduling
- Working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
- Practical experience of carrying out risk assessments
- This role will involve driving on company business. In order to drive a company vehicle, drivers must hold a full valid UK driving licence.
