Overview
We have an opportunity for a Caretaker based in the Leeds area, covering West Yorkshire and parts of North Yorkshire, to provide an effective estate maintenance service that meets customer and organisational needs.
The role involves working with a team of 8 operatives, clearing out void properties, cleaning carpets, cutting hedges, bushes and lawns, performing final cleanings, and preparing void rubbish for transport.
A company van is provided.
Responsibilities
- Provide effective estate maintenance by undertaking caretaking, cleaning, basic repair and grounds maintenance duties.
- Clear out void properties of any belongings left by previous tenants and ensure carpets are clean.
- Maintain hedges, bushes and lawns and complete final cleanings prior to waste removal.
- Maintain accurate and timely work records and provide updates on progress.
- Carry out risk assessments to identify and report potential maintenance issues.
- Ensure tools and equipment are kept in good condition, reporting faults, hazards and inappropriate practice promptly.
- Order, maintain and store supplies and stocks in line with regulation and organisational procedures.
- Maintain relationships with internal and external customers, provide timely information on progress, respond to complaints positively and report to senior managers.
- Provide regular reports to Senior Managers regarding health and safety issues and building maintenance.
- Drive company vehicle as required; must hold a full valid UK driving licence.
- Use and update computerised systems (including PDA) for work scheduling.
Qualifications
- Experience in a similar role or completion of similar tasks.
- Competent level of numeracy and literacy.
- Knowledge of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) guidelines.
- Practical experience carrying out risk assessments.
- Ability to use and update computerised systems (including PDA) for work scheduling.

£26,442 per annum (rising to £27,833 per annum after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance).
