Overview
Sanctuary provides in‑house repairs and maintenance services for an extensive portfolio of properties across the Sanctuary organisation. As a not‑for‑profit, we aim to achieve outstanding results for our customers based on our values – working in an open and transparent way, creating strong partnerships, and delivering first‑class customer service.
Responsibilities
- Carrying out routine grounds maintenance, including upkeep of outdoor spaces and landscaping tasks
- Delivering effective cleaning services across multiple sites
- Undertaking general maintenance and handyperson duties, including minor repairs
- Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with company standards
- Monitoring site conditions and reporting any issues promptly
- Providing accurate and timely information on progress and advice that is easily understood by the customer and ensuring daily work records are completed
- Responding positively to complaints and breakdowns in service delivery to meet customer expectations, in accordance with contract specifications and escalating complaints as appropriate
- Ensuring tools and equipment are maintained in good condition and stock levels are maintained
- Using equipment and materials safely as instructed and in accordance with risk assessment, method statements, and manufacturer guidance
- Carrying out all hazardous tasks, such as spraying, in accordance with supplier guidelines and keeping relevant records to comply with health and safety and legal requirements
Skills & Experience
- Practical and hands‑on experience in maintenance, cleaning, or similar roles
- Able to work independently and as part of a team, comfortable with lone working when required
- Reliable, self‑motivated, and able to manage time effectively
- British Institute certificate in cleaning services (BICS), NVQ 2 in Horticulture or similar, or willingness to work towards it
- Pesticide Application Certificate PA1 – PA6 or willingness to work towards it
- Working knowledge and experience of grounds maintenance, caretaking, general cleaning, and basic repair duties
- Good communication skills and excellent interpersonal/customer care skills
- Working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
- Driving on company business – requires a full valid UK driving licence
