Cumbernauld based with a balance of home and office working
£55,353 - £58,266 per year plus company car or car allowance
40 hours per week – Monday to Friday – 8:00am to 5:00pm
We have an opportunity for a Commercial Surveyor to join our team based at one of our Cumbernauld Office locations. The Purpose of this role is to effectively support and operate within the Sanctuary Property Services Central Commercial Surveying & Estimating Function in line with Property Services and the Group's objectives, critically assessing proposed works within set parameters for financial and strategic compatibility to ensure they meet the needs of the Group's customers and wider community and provide support Contractor and Supplier Management objectives.
The role of Commercial Surveyor will include:
- Work within set processes and procedures to ensuring optimised Commercial and Operational Performance and all works proposals represent excellent Value for Money for Group and our Customers as well as meeting all Regional Commercial/Operational/Financial objectives.
- Diligently enact, on the behalf of Regional Operations, budget measures over agreed workstreams, cost thresholds and manage Approval Process within set Delegated Authority limits.
- Working with Regional Commercial Teams, manage and ensure that all variations to works are appropriately captured, priced and approved whilst providing ad hoc commercial support to wider Property Services functions.
- Contribute to the development and introduction of improved end-to-end processes and procedures over the Purchasing of Goods & Services within Property Services.
- Support the Property Services Contractor and Supplier Management objectives with Regional and Procurement Teams via the provision of robust Performance Data and Reports.
- Support in the provision of accurate management information and analysis to the functions Commercial Manager including, and not limited to, KPI performance versus agreed SLAs on functions processes.
- To support the Commercial function in optimising operating surplus and mitigating any risk to the Group and actively identify significant risks and opportunities.
- Communicate effectively and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, to ensure any issues are identified and dealt with appropriately.
- Contribute, as appropriate, to special programmes and projects in support of the Group's values and objectives.
Skills and experiences:
- To ensure full compliance with Building Safety legislation, candidates applying for this role must be qualified to degree, management qualification or relevant professional qualification in construction, surveying or relatable sector.
- Recent experience in undertaking a similar role working in a commercially focused housing and/or contracting business.
- Proven achievement working in a commercially focussed housing and development contractor business, effectively managing related risks, and working in high-volume environments.
- Working knowledge of relevant regulations, legislation, and current practice, including the practical application of Health and Safety legislation.
- Working knowledge of developing and reviewing relevant policies and procedures.
- Supply chain procurement and framework management expertise.
- Proven experience of effectively managing contracts and contractor relationships.
- Some experience of staff management and delivering services within budget.
- This role will involve driving on company business. In order to drive a company vehicle, drivers must hold a full valid UK driving licence.

Role salary is £50,505 with an additional policy allowance of £4,848 per annum (rising to £53,163 with an additional policy allowance of £5,103 per annum after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance).
