We are looking for a Fire Operative to join our team. You will form part of a dedicated team of engineers, responsible for carrying out routine maintenance on life safety and security systems, for example fire alarms, fire extinguishers, smoke vent systems, access control and emergency lighting to the Group's property portfolio. You will also be required to carry out repairs and installation of fire detection and alarm systems.

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out the servicing, remedial works and installation of fire alarms, extinguishers and security systems, including warden call.
  • Maintaining systems including fire alarms, fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, fire shutters and curtains to ensure safe and compliant properties.
  • Resolving problems or initiating resolution and keeping customers informed.
  • Ensuring tools and equipment are maintained in good condition and stock is replenished as needed.

To ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation, candidates applying for this role must be qualified to BS5839-1, BS5839-6, NICEIC Fire Detection and Fire Alarm Systems Unit 1, Unit 5 and Unit 6, NVQ Level 3 or currently undertaking the qualification. As part of the interview process, candidates will be required to bring original certification verifying proof of their qualifications. Copies and CSCS cards will not be accepted.

Experience

  • Experience of working in a fire and security environment, understanding the British Standards and legislation.
  • Knowledge of analysing and diagnosing problems and implementing effective solutions.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.

This role will involve driving on company business. In order to drive a company vehicle, drivers must hold a full valid UK driving licence.

Role salary is £40,386 with an additional policy allowance of £1,146 per annum (rising to £42,512 with an additional policy allowance of £1,207 per annum after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance).
