You will provide essential support to the housing and accommodation teams, helping ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of services to residents, applicants, and colleagues. This role is designed to develop strong administrative, organisational, and customer service skills while gaining practical experience in a housing or accommodation environment.

The role of a Business and Administration Apprentice will include:

  • Learning vital office skills such as planning, organising, filing, processing and managing correspondence.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date resident files, tenancy records, and database entries.
  • File, scan, and organise documentation in line with data protection policies.
  • Act as a first point of contact for residents, visitors, and external partners via phone, email, and in person.
  • Provide clear and friendly information about housing services, appointments, and processes.
  • Help log and respond to queries, escalating issues to senior staff where necessary.
  • Ensure all records are handled in accordance with GDPR and confidentiality requirements.
  • Help maintain accurate logs of incidents, complaints, repairs, and service requests.
  • Answer phones, manage email inboxes, and schedule appointments or meetings.
  • Ensuring all placements are undertaken in line with legislative requirements and business protocols, promoting safe practices and to ensure the consistent delivery of services.
  • Contributing, as appropriate, to special programmes and projects in support of the Group’s objectives.

Skills and experiences:

  • A minimum of a 4 / C in both English and Maths at Level 2 or equivalent. If you are over 19 years of age and you haven’t achieved these grades you won’t need to sit Functional Skills. But if you are under 19 and don’t have a 4 /C or above you will be asked to sit Functional Skills Level 2.
  • You will have a keen interest to learn how an organisation operates, great communication skills and plenty of initiative.
  • Commitment, determination, and enthusiasm.
  • Be a flexible and adaptable team player.
  • Keen to work with both people and data.
  • Good communication and organisational skills, with the ability to meet set deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
  • As a self-motivated individual, we will expect you to work well by yourself as well as in a team environment.
  • Competent in MS packages (including Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Experience of updating electronic information in a variety of formats is desirable.
