This internship offers hands-on experience in the private equity industry, providing exposure to deal sourcing, due diligence, financial analysis, and portfolio management. It is designed to equip candidates with the skills necessary for a successful career in private equity and financial services. Interns will work closely with the investment team, gaining valuable insights into the investment process and supporting the team in identifying and managing opportunities.

Managing over £750m in assets, YFM focuses on Growth (principally VCT funds) and Buyouts (LP funds), providing investments between £3-15m to established and growing businesses across a variety of sectors. What is the role?

  • Market Research and Analysis: Conduct market research to identify potential investment opportunities and industry trends. Analyse competitive landscapes and market dynamics to support investment decisions.
  • Financial Analysis and Modelling: Assist in the development of financial models to evaluate investment opportunities. Perform financial analysis, including cash flow projections, valuation, and sensitivity analysis. Participate in due diligence processes, including gathering and analysing data, conducting market assessments, and evaluating risks. Support the preparation of investment memoranda and presentations. Assist in monitoring the performance of portfolio companies. Help identify and implement value creation initiatives in portfolio companies.
  • Administrative and Ad-Hoc Tasks: Provide administrative support to the investment team, including data entry, document management, and scheduling meetings. Participate in team meetings, strategy sessions, and other company events.

Who is suitable to apply?

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s (2nd or 3rd year) or Master’s programme in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong academic performance and a demonstrated interest in finance and private equity.
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modelling.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills with a proactive mindset, and able to take initiative.
  • High level of motivation, integrity, and willingness to learn.
