The Opportunity: Westward Laboratories, part of the Samworth Brothers Group, is looking for a dedicated Laboratory Analyst to join our high-performing team. This role offers an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about microbiology and food safety to contribute to a respected industry leader. As a Laboratory Analyst, you will perform microbiological analysis of food and materials in a dynamic laboratory environment, applying aseptic techniques, upholding ISO 17025 and RSA Scheme standards, and supporting accurate and efficient lab practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct microbiological testing of food and materials, including sample preparation, plating, and interpretation, while adhering to aseptic techniques and quality standards.
  • Maintain laboratory hygiene through daily cleaning routines, personal cleanliness, and proper waste disposal.
  • Monitor and record equipment performance, perform scheduled checks, and report malfunctions or deviations.
  • Log and analyze test results using the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), flagging out-of-specification results to management.
  • Support training and teamwork by supervising new staff and promoting a collaborative, customer-focused work culture.

  • A-levels in science subjects or 5 GCSEs (grade C or above)
  • Previous laboratory experience, preferably in microbiology
